I just wanted to send out a reminder about our reading group meeting on Monday, June 29. We will be discussing Chapters 4-6 of Prof. Cole’s book. If you are able, please submit your questions on the reading (among the other questions there) using this link [docs.google.com].

Join us for our monthly reading and discussion group aimed at graduate students and early career researchers on Cultural-Historical Activity Theory. On June 29, we will have our second discussion on Cultural Psychology: A Once and Future Discipline. The group is open to questions, to new participants who are early career researchers or graduate students, and to multiple theoretical perspectives. We will be joined this session by Prof. Michael Cole who will help to provide guidance on the ideas we discuss. This is a space that Cultural Praxis has set aside for students and early career researchers. After the session, we plan to update this page and share as much of the video as we are able with the larger Cultural Praxis community.

This is our third session in a series of discussions, aimed as an introduction to cultural-historical activity theory. This series will be focused on Cole’s book Cultural Psychology: A Once and Future Discipline, and we will discuss CHAT’s relationship to the social sciences, Cole’s theoretical framework for understanding the role of culture in learning and activity, and examples from his research.
