In this conversation with Anna Stetsenko, we discuss the urgency of engaging education and research in times of socio-environmental crisis. Grounded in the idea of engaged scholarship and a radical transformative stance, we reflect on education as a site of struggle and on the role of academia in advancing social and environmental justice.
Bringing together concerns from both scientific and activist domains, the discussion highlights the complexities and contradictions of engaging in research that is at once rigorous and committed. It reflects on what it means to do academia otherwise — as a form of praxis that confronts educational, environmental, and social justice crises, while imagining and enacting alternative possibilities.
