I am an educational researcher working in the University of Oulu, Finland. I am currently leading the research project Pedagogy of concrete utopias: Fostering youth agency and climate activism in formal education (Twitter: @ConcreteUtopias). The project aims to design and research pedagogical approaches for responding to youth's anguish about climate change and for supporting the development of youth's active citizenship and activism for

sustainable futures. Previously, I have studied, for example, global education, empathy and compassion in education, and how learning can be connected between in and out-of-school contexts. I collaborate actively with global education NGOs in Finland in various roles and formerly served as the President of the Institute of Peace Education.

 

In my free time, I play cello together with my son. I love to swim and cycle.
