Ana Marjanovic-Shane

I am an Independent Scholar and deputy editor-in-chief of Dialogic Pedagogy: An International Online Journal (http://dpj.pitt.edu). I am interested in dialogic pedagogy (especially in ethical, ontological dialogism and meaning-making), democratic education, students' academic freedoms, students' critical and creative authorship, play, playful language, etc.  I was born and grew up in Belgrade, Yugoslavia and moved to the United States as an adult, where I finished my Ph.D. studies and founded a family. I live and work in Philadelphia, PA. I taught at several US universities subjects like Interdisciplinary human development, Developmental and Educational Psychology, Cultural differences in education, Theories in preschool education, Play and drama in education, etc. My articles in English and Serbo-Croatian were published in various journals (e.g. Mind, Culture, Activity JournalLearning, Culture and Social Interaction, Dialogic Pedagogy Journal, Predškolsko Dete) and as book chapters in books on education and play.
