Friday, February 23, at 9 am Pacific Time, 2024
Guest Speaker: Shirin Vossoughi, Associate Professor of Learning Sciences at Northwestern University
This coffee hour will serve as a workshop space to engage together with the draft of a book that Shirin Vossoughi is writing entitled: “Living Educational Possibility: Essays on Human Learning and Social Transformation.” Shirin has shared the first two chapters, which lay out the broad themes of the book (Introduction) and a close look at her own learning through the Migrant Student Leadership Institute (Chapter 1). Given her interest in writing about cultural-historical research on learning for broader audiences, she is particularly interested in how the writing feels and looks forward to engaging with participants’ responses and questions.
It is particularly important that you come to this workshop having read the text with comments and suggestions in hand. It is a work in progress. Shirin plans to provide some background as context for her work, and then turn to us, the participants, for feedback that will help her to make the work accessible beyond an audience of the cognoscenti.
